01 / The Client
The client
Perilya Limited is an Australian base metals mining and exploration company. It produces silver, lead and zinc, and also holds interests in copper and gold projects.
02 / The Challenge
The challenge
Invoicing for mined and shipped metals is far from simple. Invoice values depend on the wet and dry metric tonnes of each shipment, combined with published metal prices and exchange rates on a specific date. Every figure has to be right, because small errors in weight, price or rate flow straight through to the final invoice value.
Perilya was managing this process across multiple spreadsheets. Gathering the inputs, running the calculations and producing the invoice took careful manual effort, and the knowledge of how it all worked lived inside the spreadsheets themselves.
Perilya needed a dedicated solution that would capture, gather and calculate invoice values automatically, and produce invoices in the exact format its business required.
03 / The Solution
The solution
Zenro Consulting delivered ZERP, our vertical solution for wholesale, retail and manufacturing businesses. We tailored it to Perilya's operations and extended it with purpose-built custom development.
Custom invoicing widget
A widget built specifically for Perilya captures shipment weights, pulls in the relevant metal prices and exchange rates for the applicable date, and calculates invoice values automatically. What used to take several spreadsheets now happens in one place.
Custom invoice templates
Invoices are generated directly from the calculated data in Perilya's required layout, ready to send without manual formatting.
Data migration
We migrated Perilya's existing data from Microsoft Excel into the new system, so the team could start working in it straight away.
04 / Behind the build
The technical challenge
Perilya's existing spreadsheets contained a large number of interlinked formulas that had built up over time. Before we could build anything, the team had to reverse engineer each of these formulas, understand exactly how every value was derived, and rebuild that logic accurately inside the new invoicing widget.
The invoice itself also had a very specific layout. Reproducing it required careful use of custom fields and related records, so that every value landed in the right place on the finished document.
05 / The Outcome
The outcome
Perilya's invoicing process now runs in a single system instead of across multiple spreadsheets. Weights, metal prices and exchange rates are captured and calculated automatically, the calculation logic is documented in the system rather than hidden in formulas, and invoices are produced in the required format with far less manual effort and risk of error.
With 12 months of Premium Plus Support included, Perilya has direct access to the Zenro team as its needs evolve.
